This highly interactive workshop is designed to provide an overall understanding of best practices and professional conduct within the brokerage fraternity. Participants will also gain insight into the aims and objectives of the Insurance Brokers Association of Trinidad and Tobago (IBATT).
At the end of the session, participants will be able to:
- Identify with the aims and objectives of IBATT
- Appreciate the brokers’ role as an independent and responsible intermediary
- Highlight adherence to insurance legislation and regulations
- Understand the importance of trust and confidence in dealing with clients, based on the brokers’ professional judgement
Mr. Sookdeo Beepath joined the insurance industry in Trinidad and Tobago in 1972 as a clerical officer. Thereafter, he began taking courses in several insurance disciplines at the Academy of Insurance.
He continued his insurance education in Mumbai, India and Zurich, Switzerland. Mr. Beepath holds a Certificate in Human Resource Management and a Diploma in Industrial Relations. He is also a Certified Financial Planner. He read for his MBA in Business Management at the Arthur Lok Jack Graduate School of Business.
Sookdeo served as President of the Trinidad and Tobago Insurance Institute and the Association of Insurance Institutes of the Caribbean. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Trinidad & Tobago Insurance Companies (ATTIC) and Chairman of its Claims Committee. He currently lectures to the Bachelor’s Degree in Risk and Insurance at the University of the West Indies.
