This workshop provides participants with knowledge and insight on the motor insurance claims handling process.
At the end of the session participants should:
- Understand the motor policy and the scope of cover which can result in a claim.
- Become familiar with motor insurance claims procedures and systems.
- Identify the differences in dealing with own damage and third-party losses.
- Understand the role of the adjuster / investigator in determining the extent and value of the loss
- Understand various adjudication protocols in order to achieve a resolution to the loss.
- Understand claims settlement and the discharge of liability.
Mr. Sookdeo Beepath joined the insurance industry in Trinidad and Tobago in 1972 as a clerical officer, and began his insurance education at the Academy of Insurance, founded by the Trinidad and Tobago Insurance Institute (TTII). He continued his insurance educational pursuits at renowned international institutions in Mumbai, India and Zurich, Switzerland.
Mr. Beepath holds a Certificate in Human Resource Management and a Diploma in Industrial Relations. He is also a Certified Financial Planner. He read for his MBA in Business Management at the Arthur Lok Jack Graduate School of Business.
He also served as President of the Trinidad and Tobago Insurance Institute and the Association of Insurance Institutes of the Caribbean, and was a member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Trinidad & Tobago Insurance Companies (ATTIC) and Chairman of its Claims Committee. Mr. Beepath currently lectures on the Bachelor’s Degree in Risk and Insurance at the University of the West Indies.
