Honouring our UWI Graduates

PRESS RELEASE

Honouring our UWI Graduates

On behalf of the Board of Governors and the Council of Trustees of the Trinidad and Tobago Insurance Institute (TTII), we sincerely congratulate our UWI Graduates for the period 2019/20 and 2020 / 21 on their major milestone, and note that this is just the beginning of success. They are now the proud holders of the Bachelor of Science (BSc) Degree in Insurance and Risk Management.

The BSc programme, now in its 11th year of existence, commenced in the 2011/2012 academic year. The programme was the brainchild of the UWI and TTII’s members as they sought to develop a programme that would enhance the skillset of potential recruits and offer a rich and in-depth locally contextualised curriculum to provide a holistic understanding of the underpinnings of Insurance.

As the name suggests, the BSc Insurance and Risk Management also incorporates core management and economic courses within its scope, giving a more rounded education in business and insurance. To date, this programme has attracted students from within the insurance sector and beyond.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we are unable to host an in-person recognition ceremony. However, this tribute is for successful graduates for the period. This major milestone, given the challenges posed by this pandemic, required flexibility and endurance.

Special commendation must be given to graduates and most outstanding students, Shania Sookhai who achieved First Class Honours (2020/21) and Makada Charles who achieved Second Class Honours – Upper Division (2019/20). Well done to everyone.
