This highly interactive workshop is designed to provide an overall understanding of engineering insurance which refers to the insurance that provides economic safeguard to the risks faced by the ongoing construction project, installation project, and machines and equipment in project operation. Participants will also gain insight into these policies and how they cater to various forms of uncertainties associated with on-site construction and plant usage.
At the end of the session participants will:
- Understand the various types of engineering insurance policies in particular Contractor’s and Machinery All Risk policies
- Understand the principles and practices in underwriting these types of insurance policies
- Understand the claims handling procedures in the event of a loss
- Gain insight into opportunities for engineering types of insurance in the local environment
Mr. Sookdeo Beepath joined the insurance industry in Trinidad and Tobago in 1972 as a clerical officer. Thereafter, he began taking courses in several insurance disciplines at the Academy of Insurance.
He continued his insurance education in Mumbai, India and Zurich, Switzerland. Mr. Beepath holds a Certificate in Human Resource Management and a Diploma in Industrial Relations. He is also a Certified Financial Planner. He read for his MBA in Business Management at the Arthur Lok Jack Graduate School of Business.
Sookdeo served as President of the Trinidad and Tobago Insurance Institute and the Association of Insurance Institutes of the Caribbean. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Trinidad & Tobago Insurance Companies (ATTIC) and Chairman of its Claims Committee. He currently lectures to the Bachelor’s Degree in Risk and Insurance at the University of the West Indies.
