Principles of Life & Health Insurance

This interactive session provides a high-level overview of the core principles of Life and Health Insurance. It focuses on foundational concepts, key product structures, risk and underwriting considerations, policy fundamentals, claims management, and the regulatory and ethical environment. The programme is practical and discussion-driven, equipping participants with the essential knowledge required to understand, manage, and communicate life and health insurance concepts in a professional setting.

At the end of the session, participants will be able to:  

• Explain core life and health insurance concepts using appropriate terminology
• Identify and describe the major types of life and health insurance products
• Understand how risk is assessed and reflected in policy design and pricing
• Interpret high-level policy provisions and exclusions
• Understand the end-to-end claims process and key risk areas
• Apply regulatory and ethical considerations to practical insurance scenarios

Mrs. Dawn Narine Dalip has been an insurance professional for the past thirty-seven (37) years and has held many positions at the senior Executive Level with local and regional experience and responsibilities in 13 territories across the Caribbean. She currently serves as TTII’s Vice President of the Council of Trustees, while lecturing for Long-Term workshops hosted by TTII; and is a former Director and Vice President – Life of ATTIC. Currently, Mrs. Narine Dalip is a part time lecturer at the University of the West Indies for the Management Studies Department in the BSc. Insurance and Risk Management.
