This course is designed to provide participants with a general understanding of the requirements for the processing of a motor insurance claim in accordance with the terms of the policy and the Motor Vehicles Insurance (Third-Party Risks) Act Chapter 48:51.
At the end of the session participants will be able to:
- Understand the contents of a motor insurance policy
- Understand the Motor Vehicles Insurance (Third-Party Risks) Act Chapter 48:51 in relation to:
- The limits of liability
- Open driving and restricted driving including young / named drivers
- Voiding policy for non-disclosure and misrepresentation
- Identify documentation required for presentation of claims
- Identify internal procedures for liability under policy, accident investigation and assessment of damage
- Understand negotiation of settlement
Mr. Ramnarine Mungroo has been in the insurance industry for over 25 years working in claims underwriting and IT and has been a part-time lecturer with TTII for over 20 years. He holds the TTII’s Diploma in Insurance and is a Chartered Insurer with the CII of UK. He completed his Bachelors of Laws Degree in 2006 and his legal practice course in England in 2008. He was called to the bar in February 2009 and is in private practice since.
In December, 2020 he was appointed a Member of the Financial Services Commission's Board of Commissioners by the Government of the Virgin Islands.
