This workshop covers the general principle of insurance with a focus on Life and Health Insurance. It will provide participants with the foundation of risk management, the concept of risk and how insurance deals with risk, basic concepts and the language of insurance. Additionally, participants will be introduced to the insurance market and its product offerings; specifically, the four (4) classes of long-term insurance and their components, as well as Health Insurance.
At the end of the session participants will be able to:
- Understand the concept of risk and how insurance deals with risk.
- Distinguish between the main players in the market and explain the basic principles of insurance products – insurable interest, utmost good faith, etc
- Appreciate the characteristics of the four (4) classes of Long-Term insurance and Health Insurance
- Explain to non-specialists the benefits of insurance protection to businesses and individuals and the important role of Long-term insurance and Health Insurance
Mrs. Dawn Narine Dalip has been in the Insurance Industry since 1988 and has held many positions at the senior Executive Level with local and regional experience and responsibilities in 13 territories across the Caribbean. Shel is a Former Director of ATTIC and served as the Vice President for Life. Currently Mrs. Narine Dalip is a part time lecturer at the University of the West Indies for the Management Studies Department in the BSc. Insurance and Risk Management.
