This workshop is designed to provide participants with the knowledge on market conduct requirements under the Insurance Act 2018 (as amended). Participants will understand industrial standards and best practices for good corporate governance, transparency and confidentiality in dealing with customers and regulators.
In addition, this workshop uniquely falls under the categories “Laws and Regulations”; and “Other” crediting you 2 CPDs hours for each category upon completion of this training.
At the end of the session participants will:
- Be exposed to and gain an understanding of the market conduct requirements of the Insurance Act 2018.
- Understand CBTT’s Market Conduct Guidelines.
- Gain an appreciation for good corporate governance principles and practices
- Understand the importance of transparency and confidentiality in dealing with customers and regulators
- Be able to conduct a self-assessment of the way in which business is conducted.
Mr. Sookdeo Beepath joined the insurance industry in Trinidad and Tobago in 1972 as a clerical officer. Thereafter, he began taking courses in several insurance disciplines at the Academy of Insurance.
He continued his insurance education in Mumbai, India and Zurich, Switzerland. Mr. Beepath holds a Certificate in Human Resource Management and a Diploma in Industrial Relations. He is also a Certified Financial Planner. He read for his MBA in Business Management at the Arthur Lok Jack Graduate School of Business.
Sookdeo served as President of the Trinidad and Tobago Insurance Institute and the Association of Insurance Institutes of the Caribbean. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Trinidad & Tobago Insurance Companies (ATTIC) and Chairman of its Claims Committee. He currently lectures to the Bachelor’s Degree in Risk and Insurance at the University of the West Indies.
