This program is intended to give the participant in-depth knowledge on the Institute Time Clauses for Pleasure Crafts and Commercial Vessels. Participants will review the operative clauses, exclusions, extensions and conditions applicable to the Insurance cover. Underwriters, Brokers and Claims handlers would be able to create insurance solutions for their clients and explain the claims process and settlement options in the event of a loss.
At the end of the session, participants will be able to:
- Understand Types of Vessels - Pleasure Crafts and Commercial Vessels
- Gain insight about Insurance Coverage applicable for vessels – Focus on Institute Yacht Clauses and Institute Time Clauses
- Understand the application of other Commercial Insurance Clauses – Port Risks, Fishing Vessels
- Understand the Policy Exclusions in the Institute Time Clauses and Institute Yacht Clauses
- Become familiar with the various Policy Extensions and Buy Backs to the Institute Clauses
- Understand Marine Hull Insurance Underwriting
- Understand Marine Hull Claims Process – Partial Losses and Total Losses
Mr. Navin Dookeran joined Agostini on June 1st 2015. Having worked in the insurance industry for over 20 years, Navin has developed his underwriting skill in all classes of business viz. Property, Motor, Pecuniary, Energy, Marine, Liability, Travel and Personal Accident. He attained the Advanced Diploma in Insurance (ACII) from the Chartered Insurance Institute London and the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) from the American Insurance Institute.
Navin also attended the prestigious Alois Alzheimer Scholarship at Munich Re in Germany where he learned further insurance, reinsurance and business principles over the 6-month period. He then completed his Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from the Heriot Watt University in 2010. He has conducted numerous in-house training on all classes of insurance, a part-time lecturer at the University of the West Indies for the Insurance and Risk Management Degree and he was formerly the Chairman of the Attic Underwriting Committee.
