This specialised advanced workshop is designed to give participants a comprehensive insight into legislation and quantification of damages associated with the assessment of damages, bodily injury and death claims.

This session will cover the following topic areas: · Definitions of: o Damages o Measure of damages o Liquidated and unliquidated damages o Pecuniary and Non-pecuniary damages o Quantum of damage for bodily injuries o General and Special damages · The Dependency Claim – pursuant 5 to the Compensation for Injuries Act, Chapter 8:05 · The Estate Claim – pursuant to S. 27 of the Supreme of Judicature Act, Chapter 4:01 · The Claim for Lost Years · Quantification of Damages · The Calculation of Interest of Damages · Nursing Care - Domestic Assistance · Deduction for monies already received under Workmen’s Compensation insurance

Mr.Ramnarine Mungroo (ACII, LL.B., LPC.) has worked in the general insurance industry for over 25 years working in claims underwriting and IT. He holds the TTII’s Diploma in Insurance and is a Chartered Insurer with the CII. He completed his Bachelors of Laws Degree in 2006 and his Legal Practice Course in England in 2008. He was called to the bar in February 2009 as an Attorney-at-Law and has been practising Law since being called. He is a part-time lecturer with the TTII for over twenty (20) years.
