Council of Trustees

The Trinidad and Tobago Insurance Institute is managed by a Council of Trustees.  The Council is conscious of the fact that the organization has an important role to play in the advancement of the local Insurance Industry and is committed to developing the Institute.  

Edweena Newallo-Dottin

President - TTII

Edweena Newallo-Dottin's experience in the insurance industry is vast. Over her plus 30 years in the industry, she has worked both in the technical and administrative parts of the business, including human resources, property management, marketing and operations. Mrs Newallo-Dottin, who is a member of the management team of Maritime General Insurance Co Limited, has served on the Trinidad and Tobago Insurance Institute's Council of Trustees since 1995 and took over its presidency in 2014. She currently sits on the Boards of the Association of Insurance Institutes of the Caribbean and the Joint Secretariat Corporation.

Mrs Newallo-Dottin has served on several governmental and non-profit boards and was a member the Chartered Insurance Institute. She has had extensive training both locally and overseas, the most recent being at the Academy for International Business Officials (AIBO) in Beijing, China.

Catherine Lue Sue

Catherine made her debut into the insurance industry in the Life sector and during her stint earned her LOMA certificate. She moved to General Insurance in 1986 and has remained in that arena to date. She has had the benefit of working both sides of the fence as she held an Account Executive position with one of the leading Brokers for 5 years. Catherine has attended many local and overseas training which has allowed her to move into current position as Manager Underwriting & Reinsurance at COLFIRE. Her oversight as Reinsurance Manager affords her the opportunity to travel and negotiate reinsurance terms for her Company and ensure a Global exposure to best practices and the latest developments affecting the industry.

As a holder of the TTII Diploma in Insurance, Catherine's passion for improving the standards and education within the Industry has been extended to being a member of The TTII's Council of Trustees since 1998. She also is a member of CII and carries a Cert. CII designation. In 2013 her contribution to the industry was recognized with a Long Service Award for her contribution to various ATTIC Committees.

An avid lover of Art and Culture she lends her creativity to Junior Carnival and has been part of team that has had success in many competitions. Catherine has also served as the Chairman of the Credit Committee for CLICO Credit Union

 

 

Dyan Loutan Ali

Dyan Loutan-Ali has been employed in the Insurance Industry since 1988. She currently holds the position of Vice President Trinidad Branch Operations at Sagicor General Insurance Inc. Ms. Loutan-Ali has been a member of the Council of Trustees for the past 6 years and is also a member of the Education Committee of the Institute. She is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII) and also holds a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the Heriot Watt University.

 

 

                                           

Rhona Romany

 

Rhona Romany has over 30 years experience in the insurance industry both here in Trinidad and Tobago and abroad. Mrs Romany has served as the Customer Service and Claims manager at a local insurance company and is now the Training Officer at Sagicor Life Inc. where she has been employed since 1994. She holds the FLMI & ACS designations and in the past has been a lecturer for the State License Long Term Examination Preparation course at the TTII. In the past years, she has, on two occasions, coordinated the workshop sessions for TTAIFA’s Sales Congress. Mrs Romany was also the Chairperson for the AIIC conference when it was last held in Trinidad and Tobago.

During the 1990’s Mrs Romany served on the Council of Trustees for several years and was later invited to return to service on the Council where she has continued to make a valuable contribution.

                                 

                                 

Susan Murray-Solomon

Mrs. Susan Murray-Solomon is the Financial Controller/Company Secretary of Agostini Insurance Brokers Limited. Her responsibilities include all issues relating to financial and corporate secretarial activities, as well as co-ordination of the Company’s strategic planning process and initiatives.

Mrs. Murray-Solomon possesses over twenty-five (25) years experience in auditing, accounting, treasury management and budgeting having worked both locally and in the United Kingdom with various organizations in the Private Sector.

Mrs. Murray-Solomon is a Fellow of the Association of Certified and Chartered Accountants (UK), a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Trinidad and Tobago and a graduate of the Executive Masters in Business Administration (EMBA) at UWI/ Arthur Lok Jack Graduate School of Business.

 

Mariana Galindo

Mrs Mariana Galindo entered the insurance industry in 1995. She spent most of her years in Sagicor Life Inc (formerly Barbados Mutual Life Assurance Society). She has received various company awards, including Production and Persistency Awards, attained in the categories Silver, Gold and Platinum for the years 1999, 2001, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2009 and 2012. She qualified for the Million Dollar Round Table in 2003- 2005 She served as president of the TTAIFA East Chapter from 2011 to 2013, and Secretary Treasurer in 2014 .
